what it is
jmgi uses wi-fi and bluetooth to find nearby devices and connect directly. nothing is uploaded to a central server. messages are stored locally on your device.
testflight beta
jack maguire island is available as a public beta through apple testflight. testflight is apple’s official beta testing app for ios.
how to install
- install testflight from the app store (if you don’t already have it).
- open the invite link: testflight.apple.com/join/kvcearmc
- tap install to download jack maguire island.
what to test
- install on two ios devices with bluetooth enabled.
- connect both devices to the same wi-fi for first-time testing.
- launch the app on both devices and allow the local network permission when prompted.
- use ch16 (hail) to initiate contact with a nearby vessel.
- send messages on ch69 (broadcast) and ch72 (relay).
- background the app and return; confirm messages remain on-device.

note: testflight builds expire after a period of time. testflight will prompt you to update when a new build is available.

jack maguire island is built to be quiet by default: no accounts, no central servers, and no message uploads. your messages stay on your device unless you choose to send them to a nearby device.
data we do not collect
- no names, usernames, or account profiles
- no email addresses (unless you contact support)
- no message contents uploaded to any server
- no location tracking or background location collection
- no third-party advertising identifiers
data the app may process on-device
- local network and bluetooth signals to discover nearby devices and connect directly
- basic app diagnostics on your device (for example, local logs) to help you understand app behavior
support communications
if you email support, we’ll receive the information you include in that email (and any attachments like screenshots). we use it only to respond and troubleshoot.
children
this app is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children. there are no accounts and no server-side profiles. if you believe information was shared with us via support email, contact us and we will delete it.
changes
we may update this policy as the app evolves. the “last updated” date will change when we do.

quick troubleshooting
- make sure bluetooth is on for device-to-device communication.
- for first tests, put both devices on the same wi-fi network.
- if you didn’t see the local network prompt, check ios settings:
settings → privacy & security → local network. - if messages don’t arrive, try closing and reopening the app on both devices.
