what the app stores
the app stores messages, captain's log notes, blocked users, hidden messages, and related settings locally on your device.
what the app shares with nearby devices
to help nearby captains identify each other, the app may share your vessel name, vessel type, and vessel id with nearby devices over apple's local device-to-device networking framework.
what the app does not do
the app does not require an account for its core local messaging features.
the app does not use centralized messaging servers for message delivery.
the app does not include third-party advertising sdks.
the app is not designed to upload your message history or captain's log to a central service.
local network permission
the app requests local network access because this is required for jack maguire island to discover nearby devices and connect directly from device to device.
optional exports and reports
if you choose to export a note, share content, or send a report email, that action is initiated by you using the system share sheet or your mail app.
your choices
you can clear message history and clear captain's log entries from within the app.
you can also delete the app from your device to remove app data, subject to normal ios behavior.
